Testing at Davenport: The Stock Car’s First Shake Down

After a very long winter and off-season I finally got to get back behind the wheel for a quick test day at Davenport Speedway in Davenport, Iowa.

Last week we got washed out due to bad weather in the area (which was not a huge shock, but still a disappointment), so by the time the test day rolled around, I was itching to get in the car. Not too mention the fact that I really did not want to run the new IMCA Stock Car at a race event without at least giving it a good shake down.

Since we built this car in our own shop entirely, the first time driving was a little nerve-racking to say the least. Luckily, it looks like we did a good job with the build because the car ran great!! I’d even go as far as to say it was the most comfortable I’ve been in a race car in a long time, which was pretty surprising.

Due a a leaky distributor we only went out for two sessions of hot laps and ran a total of 15-20 laps. It was a short day for sure, but plenty to make sure everything with the car was in order and working properly. Now it’s time to race this thing!

I’m really looking forward to next weekend at Cedar County Raceway, where I will be running in the Darkside Spring Fling April 7-8th. Hope to see as many folks at the track as possible, we’re planning on a great show!

- Sincerely, the TAR Family
