Race Recap: Second Win of 2023!

Another weekend of racing and another win to tack on the board for 2023! Really excited to have brought this one home and I can’t wait to keep chasing more trophies!

Last Saturday made for a pretty interesting race day as the weather was questionable in the Maquoketa Speedway area. Hot laps were delayed due to the summer heat and once the track went hot everyone had to hustle to beat the incoming thunderstorms.

Right off the trailer the car was hooked up and really fast, although hots laps have not been a great indication of how the night is going to go. In the heat race we missed a bit on setup, but were still able to go from starting P3 to a P2 finish. Even at the start of the day the track was pretty dry and had started to slick off in the heat race.

Because of this we decided to get more aggressive with our setup changes and try some new strategies for the slick conditions. Unfortunately the field invert followed the same pattern we have battled all year and we were set to start the feature event in P8.

Our aggressive setup decision paid off big time right off the start. In the first two laps we had already reached the fight for P1 and 2 and after a restart the leaders took each other out making our job really easy and gaining the lead. After that point that track started taking rubber and the rest was history. We ended up winning the race by over a straightaway distance to the car in P2.

It was another incredible win and I finally got to have my first interview from Victory Lane with the legendary announcer Jerry Mackey who has been a supporter of my program since I got started many years ago.

- Sincerely, the TAR Family
