Week Racing Recap: Salute to the Veterans Week
Saturday @ Maquoketa
The week started off with a day full of rain. We watched the weather all day and it just kept raining and raining. Somehow, the track management was able to salvage the dirt and we were still able to compete! In the heat race we struggled a bit and ended up having start near the back of the field in the feature event. In the main we hung it out there and went from 8th to 5th before the checkered flag dropped!
Monday @ Independence
Off the trailer the car bad fast on day two of the Salute to the Veterans Week. 32 Cars entered for a night of tough racing. In our heat we started 4th and drove away to capture an awesome heat win! Unfortunately, we still had to start deep in the field for the main event in 11th. Right off the green flag we were on a mission and got all the way up to 6th before a caution came out. On the restart we got hit from behind, flattening the left rear tire and ending our night with a DNF.
Wednesday @ Independence
Wednesday brought us to Independence with another bad fast hot rod right off the jump. In the heat we drove from 4th to 2nd and for the first time in over a month got to start the main event inside the top 5. Starting in 4th we were able to get up to 2nd right away and eventually lost one spot and settled for a 3rd place finish and a solid podium. The winner ended up getting DQ’d in post-race tech, so we brought home 2nd!
Saturday @ West Liberty
To finish off a long week of racing, we found ourselves at my favorite track yet again. In the heat race our car was really good and took us from starting 4th to 2nd. In the redraw we brought out P7 for the start of the main event. By the time the green flag dropped the track was insanely good and we got some of the best racing we have had all year with tons of passing and a super wide racing surface to battle on. We brought home a P4 finish after a photo finish battling for 3rd!
