Race Recap: Independence Motor Speedway (6/3)

Another Top 5 finish in the books! This past weekend we went out to Independence Motor Speedway for the first time with our stock car and the first time since 2018 when we ran our dirt late model there! Independence is a really awesome track; it’s always super racey and smooth from top to bottom so I was excited to get back out there.

Since we didn’t have any track points there in the stock car, we had to start the heat race back in P.9. During the 8-lap heat I was able to cover a bunch of ground and make it up to P.2 pushing the leader across the line for the checkered flag.

Unfortunately, the field invert was not in our favor and were shuffled back to a P.10 starting position for the 20-lap feature race.

After the green flag dropped a few cautions helped me gain some spots and inch my way closer to the front. By the time I got to the top 5 cars, the track had pretty much slicked off and became top dominant and everyone stayed where they were.

Another car and I tried to form a run up on the top and dive down to the bottom for a pass several times but without enough grip we weren’t able to make the passes stick. After a few attempts we both found our way back to the top of the track where we rode it out until the end of the race.

Even though we would rather be in the winner’s circle, we were able to secure another really solid top 5 finish. Fourth top 5 in a row! Were making gains every single week and staying up front, which just about as good as anyone can ask for!

- Sincerely, the TAR Family
